Abortion Material Around the Web
This morning I preached on Psalm 127 – “The Sound of Life in a Culture of Death”. I can think of few sermons over the last 4 years that have had such an emotional impact on my own heart. Tomorrow, I will put up a link to the audio from the sermon, but for today here are some excellent resources that I found while I was preparing for this message. All of these are well worth the read, or the listen and will serve you well in bringing the message of life to a culture of death.

Considering the sad state of our culture, I personally think our efforts as believers are better spent working with those who have unplanned pregnancies (making sure they don’t chose abortion) and helping prevent future ones, rather than trying to make any kind of legislation that overturns Roe v. Wade a reality. I do think we need to publicly (loudly) denounce further lifting of any restrictions on abortion; I just don’t think talking about overturning Roe v. Wade is realistic.
I’m surprised by how many believers are vehemently against organizations handing our birth control pills and condoms to young adults. They are the single largest demographic facing unplanned pregnancies. I think it’s a compromise worth making, knowing that thousands of unborn babies could be spared. It’s not that adultery is less sinful, but it’s going to happen anyway because sexual behavior can’t be controlled by any human authority. Let’s at least make sure they don’t compound a much larger issue in this country.
Thank you for preaching on this subject today, I think it’s important that Christians face issues like this year round and not only when legislation or an election is in the news. I wonder if we could begin interacting with Pregnancy Choices more directly as a church? Our vast resources could go far, even if offered in smaller ways. Are they still part of our missions budget?
God is sovereign in all things, even the horror that is abortion.

Hey Jason, that was pretty much the point of the message this morning, that we need to creatre a culture of life in our church in the midst of a culture of death.
I would disagree that we should giveup on overturning Roe v. Wade, just like William Wilberforce should not have given up trying to make slavery illegal in England. The moral issues are just as grave and so the need for resolve as just as necessary.
As far as handing out birth control and condoms, I know that we won’t be handing them out at church
, but availability doesn’t seem to be the issue today.
I talked a lot about Pregnancy Choices today and there’s an insert in the bulletin with some really practical things that we can do to help support them even m ore than we already do.
